You already know Product Management. But IoT products are more complex than any product you’ve managed before. With so few books and courses available, you may not know where to start. Or you may be wasting hours looking for information online, trying to make sense of IoT.
That's why I developed the IoT Product Manager course. It's a one-stop-shop for all the essential training you need to become a successful IoT PM.
After years in the field, I developed a comprehensive framework that takes the guesswork out of Product Management for IoT products. I've distilled it into a course that I teach at Stanford; now you can learn the same material, from anywhere in the world, plus have access to weekly office hours with me online to get your questions answered.
As a Product Manager, this course will teach you exactly what you need to know about the IoT. Nothing more, nothing less. All the hype around IoT has led to so much useless information on this topic. If you want to stop wasting your time and start changing the world with IoT, Daniel's course is the place to start.
- MJ Peters, Product Manager
Creating a strong product strategy is challenging. Creating a strong IoT product strategy is even harder. So it's no wonder companies large and small are struggling to launch successful products to market.
In this course, you'll learn how to lead the way on your company's IoT product strategy, including how to:
Daniel's Product Management for IoT class stresses the rule companies most often forget: focus your resources where you add sustainable, differentiated value.
The class opened my eyes to the complexities and challenges associated with delivering a comprehensive IoT solution, enabled me to recognize opportunity where I once saw great risk, and showed me how to play offense in a whole new way.
—Zach Perlstein, Entrepreneur
Like any technology PM, IoT PMs have to make decisions about UX, data, business, technology, security, and standards and regulations. However, unlike other PMs, you have to make these decisions at five distinct layers of the technology stack: device hardware, device software, communications, cloud platform, and cloud applications.
In this course, you'll learn an easy-to-use framework to manage each layer and the decisions that you need to make along the way.
Daniel's course ensures students gain a high-level understanding of what it will take to be an effective IoT Product Manager.
By adhering to Daniel's Product Management Framework and 5-layer IoT Technology Stack, we become proficient in what it takes to effectively develop and ultimately manage a complex Internet of Things product from inception to market!
—Randy Dilena, Managing Director
Hello, I'm Daniel Elizalde.
I'm excited to share this course with you, built upon my 17 years of IoT product experience. I originally developed and taught this course at Stanford Continuing Studies. After overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, and requests for an online version from all over the world, I'm now making it available online for the first time.
My passion is Product Management for IoT. I have experience as head of product for IoT product portfolios. And I've managed the complete lifecycle of end-to-end IoT solutions, including hardware, embedded software, cloud platforms, and user applications. My diverse background includes working at Fortune 500 companies and growth-stage start-ups, as well as product companies and services companies. Based on this experience, I created the IoT Decision Framework.
Today, I focus 100% of my time training IoT Product Managers and executives. I do this through in-person and online courses, corporate workshops, and articles on the TechProductManagement blog, which is now the leading blog on IoT Product Management.
I've been featured in:
As a highly experienced Product Manager himself, Daniel shares practical approaches and tactics which are readily useful in the industry. Daniel is meticulous with the clarity of the material. Daniel's framework helps weigh in many factors that come handy in building successful products. Thank you, Daniel!
—Preethi Srinivasan, Technical Lead
The content of the course was masterfully designed and delivered for the benefit of a technical and non-technical audience. Daniel's course helped de-mystify the esoteric layers (security, communications) in traditional IoT architectures in addition to offering supplemental learning resources to solidify our understanding.
Without any hesitation, I would like to recommend Daniel's course to any individual or organization interested in demystifying the idea behind IoT and to those who are interested in simplifying/accelerating their product development process.
—Shruti Gopinathan, Product Manager
The course covers a lot of material, so it's likely you'll have questions along the way. A big benefit of the course is that you can get those questions answered each week during online office hours. Submit your own questions, join the weekly online conference call, listen to other students' questions, and get live answers. It's that easy.
And if you prefer getting answers to your questions one-on-one, choose an option that includes one-on-one coaching. Check out your three course options below.
Any option can be paid in full or in three monthly installments.
The course was thought-provoking, insightful, and well-structured using Daniel's IoT Decision Framework. My big take-away was the wide spectrum of product decisions that need to be made including priorities, costs, strategic direction, etc., and the ramifications and interconnection of those decisions. The material and content of the course was current and pertinent to a wide range of domains and well worth my time.
